In it are the wonders… and marvels… of the life… the character… and the reality… of the man named… Uthman!!!… the man for whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood… from the beginning of the night… until dawn broke… with his hands raised… praying for him: “O Allah, I am pleased with Uthman, so be pleased with him”…!!! The man in whose time revolt broke out… and he engaged it in dialogue as it engaged him… manoeuvred with it as it manoeuvred with him!!!… The man to whom the people gave their pledge… to act according to the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic… the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ, and the way of the two caliphs before him… The man whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out to on the night he was killed: “O Uthman, break your fast with us”… so he awoke fasting… and sat waiting for his killers… smiling!… The immense Islamic experience… with all its capacities, energies, concepts, values and upheavals over twelve years… was filled with momentous events!… That is what we mean by the life of Uthman… not in its narrow sense. No… we mean the entire experience… just as by the capitalist world we mean… its whole system… and by the socialist world… its overall order… What we aim for here… is to present the great Islamic experience… fully and comprehensively… in detail and in summary… in the era of the third man… after Muhammad ﷺ.
