Do not say “Look for the criminal”; say instead “Look for the devil,” or “Look for Iblees,” for he is behind every crime! There is no disbelief, polytheism, crime, deviation, sin, evil whisper, wickedness, harm, indecency, wrongdoing, or anything that brings ruin and destruction to man, except that Iblees – may Allah curse him – is the one who commands it, makes it attractive, and whispers it to man!!! What makes his evil all the more dangerous is that he is a hidden enemy we cannot see: ﴿ إِنَّهُۥ يَرَىٰكُمۡ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُۥ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا تَرَوۡنَهُمۡۗ إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ أَوۡلِيَآءَ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ ﴾ “Verily, he and Qabiluhu (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We made the Shayatin (devils) Auliya’ (protectors and helpers) for those who believe not.” (Al-A’raf 7:27) And the most dangerous enemy is the one you cannot see while he sees you!!! Every human being, male or female, is fully exposed to the devils; they toy with him, lead him astray and seduce him without his knowing!!! Allah the Exalted warned the children of Adam of the evil of Iblees, saying: ﴿إِنَّ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ لَكُمۡ عَدُوّٞ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّاۚ ﴾ “Surely, Shaitan (Satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy.” (Fatir 35:6)!!!
