In it is the life of the man of whom As-Subki said in his Tabaqat: “The Shaykh of Islam and of the Muslims… one of the great Imams… the Sultan of the Scholars… the undisputed Imam of his age… who upheld the enjoining of good… and the forbidding of evil in his time… versed in the realities and subtleties of the Shari’ah… knowing its purposes… He never saw anyone like himself… nor did anyone who saw him see his equal… in knowledge, piety… standing for the truth… courage… strength of heart… and eloquence of tongue”!!! Adh-Dhahabi said of him: “Mastery of the school of law culminated in him… together with asceticism and piety… He reached the rank of independent reasoning (ijtihad)… came to Egypt… and stayed there more than twenty years… spreading knowledge… enjoining good… forbidding evil”!!! Ibn Kathir said of him: “Leadership of the school culminated in him… and people sought his legal opinions from every land… In the latter part of his life he no longer bound himself to the school… but broadened his scope… and gave rulings according to his own reasoning”!!! Abu Al-Hasan Ash-Shadhili said of him: “There is no gathering of jurisprudence on earth more splendid than that of Shaykh Izz Al-Din Bin Abdul Salam”!!!
