In it is the life of Abdullah Bin Masoud… the first to recite the Qur’an aloud in Makkah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Take the Qur’an from four… from Ibn Masoud… Ubayy Bin Ka’b… Mu’adh Bin Jabal… and Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah!” Ibn Masoud said: “No surah of the Book of Allah was revealed but I know where it was revealed…!” And he said: “I took more than seventy surahs directly from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ!” At-Tirmidhi said: “The most authentic hadith from the Prophet ﷺ on the Tashahhud is the hadith of Ibn Masoud… and most of the scholars among the Companions and their Followers act upon it!” And it was said of Ibn Masoud: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never kept him waiting when he came… nor hid his confidences from him… he would enter upon him… put on his sandals for him… and wake him when he slept… and among the Companions he was known as the keeper of the Prophet’s secrets and his siwak! Hudhayfah said: “The person closest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in bearing, manner and conduct is Ibn Umm Abd!” (that is, Ibn Masoud).
